Language binds us together, inspires us, and provides us with common networks and avenues of expression. Gerhardt Editorial was established by Katie Gerhardt in response to her lifelong love and appreciation of language, as both a tool and an art.
As a writer, editor, and proofreader, Katie is committed to developing and guiding your ideas and writing into opportunities. She has professional experience in many industries including:
- Science Editing. Katie has spent nearly five years editing science manuscripts and grant proposals for research labs in the United States and abroad, including the Division of Reproductive Sciences at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. She has developed a familiarity with scientific subjects across disciplines, as well as submission guidelines for grant agencies (such as the NIH and March of Dimes) and journals (including Nature, Science, Cell, etc.)
- Creative Writing. Katie earned her Bachelor of Arts in English and French, with a concentration in Creative Writing from Hollins University. At Hollins, she worked with and learned from published writers and poets and won the Andrew James Purdy Prize in short fiction. Since graduation, she has interned at a literary agency, editing and critiquing submissions for the head agent. She has also worked as an assistant editor at Unsolicited Press, working on both fiction and poetry manuscripts. She has developed a keen eye for prose, plot, characters, and dialogue, and is able to provide in-depth editorial letters, proofreading, and line edits for any creative project.
- Professional Copy and Letters. Katie also has experience writing and editing professional letters and documents, including resumes and cover letters, with a focus on precision and clarity. She has created and edited copy for both financial and technological industries.
